Video Production FAQs for Businesses in Nashville

Answers to common questions about professional video production, storytelling, timelines, on-camera comfort, and how Storytellers Video Productions helps Nashville and Middle Tennessee businesses build trust with video.

How much does a professional video cost?

It’s the first thing everyone asks. And I get it.

The honest answer? It depends.

Is it a sit-down interview?

How much time will it require to complete all of the necessary shooting?

How long is the finished product?

Are there multiple locations?

Is there travel involved?

You see? There are a lot of factors that go into the final cost of a video project.

Before I ever quote a price, I also want to know your story. Then we figure out how to incorporate it into your overall marketing and branding. Your messaging.

Maybe you need a Branding Video to tell your company or business’s story.

Maybe it’s a Bio Video so people can get to know you.

Or a Testimonial from people you’ve helped.

Or you want to capture the spirit of an event.

Or perhaps it’s FAQs like this.

Then we build something that fits. Your goals. Your timeline. Your budget.

I’m not here to sell you a video you don’t need. I’m here to provide a video solution. In fact, as part of our agreement, you own all of the footage.

I’m here to tell the story that grows your business.

How long does video production take?

Most projects? Three to four weeks. Start to finish. And if you need it sooner, we can usually make that happen too.

Here’s how it goes.

Week one, we plan. I’ll ask you a lot of questions. Your message. Your audience. What you want this video to do.

We also discuss logistics. Things like who might appear in the video with you. When we want to shoot the project. Where we want to shoot the project. Elements we will need, like your logo, headshot, and branding kit.

Week two, we shoot. For most projects, that’s a half-day. Sometimes a full day.

After that, we edit. Shaping the story. Adding music. Creating custom graphics. When we get the story where we’re happy with it, we send you a first cut. You give me notes. Things you want changed or tweaked. We polish it until it’s right.

The whole time, you’ll know exactly where we are. What’s next. What other elements we may need from you. That way, when you see the video, there’s no mystery. No surprises. Just joy when you receive a finished video you can be proud of. Something that represents you and your company the way you want potential clients and customers to see you.

Why does storytelling work better than a regular ad?

Twenty years in the TV news business taught me one thing.

People don’t remember what you sell. They remember the story you tell.

Most ads talk at people. They list features. They shout. The viewer tunes out. Every time.

But when you tell a real story about why you started, about a client whose life you changed, about the problem that keeps you up at night, something happens. They lean in. They listen. They feel it.

And feeling is what makes someone pick up the phone.

That’s why every video I make starts with your why. Not your what. Your why. Because a real story builds trust. It builds credibility. It builds connection. And that’s what turns a stranger into a client.

And the ability to tell that story, a compelling story, in a concise amount of time, is what makes us unique.

How do I look natural on camera?

Look, I hear it almost every shoot. “Dan, I’m terrible on camera.”

And almost every time, that same person watches the final cut and says, “Wait. That’s me?”

For many years, I’ve lived by the mantra “Comfort is Key.”

What does that mean? We don’t memorize a script. We have a conversation.

I sit just off camera. I ask you questions. You answer in your own words. You stumble? We do it again. No big deal.

I even help people figure out what they should wear. What will look best on you, on camera.

After 20 years of interviewing people, I’ve learned how to make the camera disappear. So you can just be you. The smartest, warmest version of you.

Why does my business need video?

Here’s the truth.

Your customer is comparing you to three other businesses right now. They’re on your website. Your Google profile. Your Instagram. And they’re deciding in seconds.

Text tells them what you do. A photo shows them where you are.

But a video? A video lets them feel who you are. Your heart. Your drive. Your passion. Your motivation for what you do. Before they ever pick up the phone.

And that’s the whole thing. People don’t buy from the company with the longest list of services. They buy from the person they trust.

That’s the number-one goal for all of our projects: to build trust, build credibility, and build a connection with your potential clients and customers.

Video is the fastest and most effective way to do that. It puts your face, your voice, and your story in front of someone who’s never met you. Twenty-four hours a day.

What's the process like to work with you?

It’s simple. It starts with a conversation. No pressure. No pitch.

We just talk. About your business. About your goals. About the story you want to tell.

From there, I write up a clear proposal. What we’re shooting. Where. When. And exactly what it costs.

You approve it, and I take it from there. The script. The questions. The locations. The schedule. On shoot day, you just show up. I run the show.

After that, you get a first cut. We refine it together. And you walk away with final files, ready for your website, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, wherever you need them.

You own your video. You own your raw footage. And you walk away with a story you’ll be proud to put your name on.
